Waiting…and Working

It’s been a month since I’ve written to my faithful followers. That’s the longest I’ve ever gone without posting. Please forgive me. Life has been busy.

I have some exciting news! I’ve been persistent in sending my novel out into the publishing world and have gotten lots of “it’s good but not right for me” responses. They say everything happens for a reason, right?

In the beginning of February a new publisher came on the scene. I don’t want to say their name yet (I’m being a little superstitious) but they focus on publishing works by black authors.

Once they were open for submissions, I sent in a query about my novel. Almost immediately I received an email back requesting the ENTIRE manuscript!! This is not a guarantee they will accept the manuscript for publication, but it’s a huge step.

And now I wait. I’ve been waiting for just about a week now. In the meantime, I’m working on my next book and still writing short stories for the short story challenge I do every year. Having other writing projects to work on takes my mind off waiting (which you do a lot when you’re a writer). It also keeps my skills sharp.

So that’s what I’ve been up to here in Audraville. I will let you know either way what happens with my book. What have you been up to lately? Leave me a note in the comments!
