I guess you wonder where I’ve been…
Hello there! If you sang that line, we are besties! LOL! I know, I haven’t written here in a while, but I’ve still been writing. If you follow this blog, then you know that at the beginning of 2020, I began a new podcast called Between the Reads that was created to shine the spotlight on Black independently and self-published authors.
As 2021 comes to a close, I am getting ready to embark on year three of my podcast and it is steadily growing and evolving. In fact, it’s left little time to write the books that I have outlined.
I had to take stock in my writing career and I realized something: I’m still writing, but in a different capacity. I also learned that writing every day, as far as books are concerned, doesn’t work for me. I did it for three years and it felt forced. I’m not knocking authors who write every day, but it isn’t my ministry. And we all have to do what works for us, right?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m always writing down ideas. But my stories come to me over time in my head, and when it’s time to write, I know it. If I try to write before it’s time, the story stalls.
However, I’ve still been writing! How? I’m glad you asked. I mentioned how my podcast is growing and evolving and one of the ways it has evolved is in the creation of Read It Black to Me. This is a website I created to feature Black authors and Black-owned businesses related to the publishing industry.
It only started a few months ago but has received a very warm welcome. Check it out here.
So if you’re wondering where I am and you don’t see posts here on my author site (which I will do better about posting on, I promise) come on over to Read It Black to Me or hop on Between the Reads where I post new interviews with authors every week!
So, see? I’m still very active. 🙂 And, by the way, another story of mine is finally ready to lay itself down on paper, so there may be a new book coming in 2022. 😉 I’ll keep you posted.

White Obsession with Black Compliance
It has been three months since my last blog post. No reason for it other than I have been very busy with my podcast (which is a good thing). I have been trying to process all that is going on. Attempting to understand why George Floyd is on trial for his own murder....
